November 2015

At the November 17, 2015 board meeting, the Aberdeen Hotel Alliance presented the following events, groups, and organizations with approved funding for their event.

Elks Lodge

Aberdeen Elk's Lodge Kids Christmas Party

The Aberdeen Elk's Lodge hosts a Kids Christmas Party every year for children in need. Families from around the area are invited to the party where children can meet Santa Claus, receive hats, mittens, scarves, toys, and gift certificates for groceries from the Elks Lodge just for them.

The Elks Lodge receives sponsorships from various businesses in Aberdeen, and raised $2,450 for the 2015 Christmas party. The Aberdeen Hotel Alliance agreed to match those funds and awarded the group another $2,450 to help offset the cost of buying gifts for children in need.

The event runs 4 days and brings in over 500 athletes, approximately 300 coaches and chaperones, family, staff, board members, etc. The event is held at the Village Bowl and is one of the largest of the 26 events across the state.

Special Olympics has agreed to allow Aberdeen to host for the next 3 years. State Bowling is normally held the first weekend in November every year.
