Storybook Land Festival

Storybook Land FestivalStorybook Land Festival is set up as a book festival for children and promotes children’s literature and the importance of reading. The festival started as a single day event and in 2009 grew to a two-day event. The idea for the festival was developed by members of the community who wanted to host an event that would promote literacy using the popular family attraction Storybook Land and its many exhibits that are based on nursery rhymes, storybook and cartoon characters.

Storybook Land Festival is held July 24-25, 2015 at Storybook Land.

Arts in the Park

Arts in the Park
Arts in the Park is a summer weekend tradition for Aberdeen and the NE corner of South Dakota. One hundred thirty spaces are carefully marked off within Melgaard Park on Friday morning that are filled by Friday evening with artists, crafters and food vendors from all over the country. In addition to the booths selling items, there is free entertainment that has something of interest for all ages - barrel
train rides, inflatables, jugglers and musical entertainment featuring a variety of music genres that can be found through the weekend. This two-day event is always held on the third weekend in June, which is typically Father’s Day weekend. Estimated attendance for the weekend is 18,000-20,000. The event is free.
